There's no growth in our comfort zone!

When I was hammering out a workout on the Peleton today, the instructor said, "If you're feeling uncomfortable right now, that's okay. Remember, there's no growth in our comfort zone!" Wow, is that ever a true statement. If I'm working on my endurance, I'm going to have some rides that leave me cooked at the end. If I'm trying to develop my speed, I'm going to be pushing through some lactic acid buildup to achieve that.

This statement applies doubly to KickStart Self-Defense. If we're not outreaching to potential new students, making connections to increase our name recognition, and developing new partnerships in our community, we won't empower as many students with free self-defense skills. I don't always know the next best step in our journey, but I know if I'm challenging myself and our team, we're probably on the right track.
The same is true with learning self-defense. Guess what? It's not always comfortable to pretend to choke our friend! But if we're willing to take that risk in a safe way, we'll learn how to escape a choke hold. Maybe you've been thinking about the need to learn self-defense, but you've been anxious about taking the next step to join a class. Take the leap! You'll leave feeling empowered with new skills, knowing how to stay safer and proud that you pushed yourself. Has anyone pushed themselves out of their comfort zone this week?
